Hiring for Safety and Happiness
Having a stranger come to your home to care for you or loved ones can be scary. Choice Senior Home Care recognizes the fear and the anxiety it can cause, so we guarantee that our caregivers undergo a rigorous hiring and vetting process before they make their first visit.
Caregiver Screening Qualifications
Any new applicant for a caregiving position is screened by our experienced care managers and evaluated on a number of criteria in phone and in-person interviews. Since companionship is an essential quality of caregiving, we value conversational ability as key to the success of Senior Choice caregivers.
The final screening evaluates the engagement of the caregiver during orientation as they fulfill mandatory training hours learning expectations for personal care, company requirements, and professionalism. Only A+ players who are passionate about helping, can be a career caregiver for Choice Senior Home Care. Our expectations are high.

Background Check
The State of Illinois requires that all healthcare workers complete an Illinois State Police background check and are registered in the Illinois Department of Public Health Healthcare Worker Registry. Candidates with a criminal record are not eligible.
Drug Test
Choice Senior Home Care is one of the few agencies that requires all caregivers to pass a drug test. Failure to pass automatically disqualifies the candidate.
Training & Expectations
Caregivers are required to complete our own training program qualifications, as well as their personal annual caregiver certification. Choice Senior Home Care training program combines online and in-person instruction. Beyond the basics about personal care and safe transfers, caregivers are given opportunities for on-going training on the details that bring joy to our senior clients, from food preparation to fun and motivational activities.
